21st October

The first half term seems to have flown by and we have many reasons to be pleased with all that has been accomplished. During this last week our hockey teams have performed excellently against teams from Ireland and Holland. It is particularly pleasing to see a sport which does not get a lot of press and is not played in many comprehensive schools going from strength to strength here at Sandbach School.

We heard this week that we have been granted planning permission to extend the building that houses our Sixth Form Centre. Work will begin during November to increase the capacity to two further tutorial sized classrooms, an extension to the existing common room provision for the Sixth Form and a new purpose built Sixth Form study area. Whilst there inevitably will be disruption to the school site we will endeavour to keep this to a minimum and, of course, work very closely with the contractors to ensure the health and safety of all. The aim is to have the new facilities ready for after Easter but the weather may well affect our plans! We will keep you updated with the progress over the next few months.
