E-Safety

Next Tuesday, 7th February, is Safer Internet Day and with the recent Facebook issue that was uncovered last week, it has never seemed to be more appropriate. As a school we have obviously been very concerned about the online safety of our students and their naivety and vulnerability when engaging online with someone they did not know. However, we were also pleased that they felt secure enough to be able to confide in staff and ‘blow the whistle’ on what was happening. The episode also highlights the importance of education about E-safety. If any parents/carers would like to know more about how to keep their child safe online there is a talk by the police at Sandbach High School on the 7th February at 7.00pm.

Pupils in years 7 to 10 have been completing an online questionnaire about bullying. The survey is internationally validated and will give us a pupil perspective upon their experiences. When we have the results we will be looking to address any areas of concern as a whole school approach to anti-bullying.

Next week many of our students will be taking part in the ‘Evenings of Dance and Physical theatre.’ If you’ve not been before to one of these occasions they are a wonderful display of talent, innovation and creativity. Tickets are available from school or on the door.
