Meeting HRH Prince Charles

Just before half term I was privileged to meet HRH Prince Charles at a Headteachers’ Conference of the Prince’s Teaching Institute. He was there to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Institute which supports professional development for subject leaders. A number of our departments have been involved with the PTI and currently the Languages department are working towards gaining the PTI mark in their subject.

Fundraising continues to be a feature of life at the school; currently the Geography department have a final ‘Bag2School’ collection taking place, in support of their trip to New Zealand, so do use it as a way of emptying your wardrobes in time for spring! Year 7s are also gearing up to tackle charity events in order to raise monies for their chosen charities.

For 3 days this week we had 10 English PGCE students placed with us. We were one of 3 local schools, chosen because we have an outstanding English department, who ran an intensive programme training student teachers to deliver outstanding lessons with a focus upon assessing pupil progress. It was hugely successful and something that we hope will be repeated with the local teaching schools alliance, which we are part of.
